Miscellaneous photographs of plants, the museum building, the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory and other New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) buildings, unidentified botanists, postcards showing NYBG buildings and grounds, and individual and group portraits of NYBG staff and administrators, ca.1890's-1940's. Individuals pictured include Harriet Barnes Pratt, Charles Barney Harding, William Campbell Steere, Frances W. Horne, and Elizabeth Gertrude Knight Britton. Also included is a photo album, 1935-1940, which documents improvements and repairs made to NYBG buildings and grounds including the Bronx Park East stone wall; museum roof (a WPA project); reconstruction of the Conservatory, 1937; repair of the Bronx River path; control of Dutch elm disease; and flood damage, 1936.

Elizabeth Gertrude Knight Britton (1857-1934) was a bryologist, educator and one of the founders of the New York Botanical Garden. She served as Honorary Curator of Mosses from 1912-1929. she was born Elizabeth Gertrude Knight in New York City on January 9, 1857.
